A FAMILY'S JOURNEY FROM GREECE TO NYC'S SOUVLAKI PIONEERS
Franky’s Souvlaki started as a family dream in 1970, when my parents emigrated from Greece to the vibrant streets of New York City. They worked tirelessly—my father in restaurants and my mother in a factory—until fate offered a unique opportunity. On weekends, my father helped an older gentleman sell hot dogs from a wooden cart in Astoria, Queens. When the man retired, he offered the cart to my father, and with my mother’s support, Franky’s journey began.
Determined to offer something special, my father introduced the souvlaki stick to the neighborhood—a hit from the start. With his expertise as a butcher, he served up perfectly tender, juicy souvlaki that quickly became the talk of Astoria. As the years passed, Franky’s Souvlaki grew, with every member of our family pitching in to share the love and flavor of Greece with our customers.
